Alternative Bean Company (ABC) is the low-grade coffee business of ECOM. ABC is seeking an experienced Senior Coffee Sales Trader to expand its trade team and physical trading activities within this segment. The role focuses on originating and marketing in lower-grade Arabica and Robusta, with a strong emphasis on customer relationships, consistent volumes, and margin generation.

Key duties and responsibilities

As part of ECOM GROUP Coffee Trading’s team, the Senior Trader will develop and manage a portfolio of clients including roasters, soluble manufacturers, and industrial buyers

• Build long-term commercial relationships and drive repeat business

• Originate and execute physical coffee trades across key origins

• Trade & blend lower-grade Arabica and Robusta coffees, optimizing quality-to-price positioning

• Structure and negotiate pricing (differentials, flat price contracts)

• Monitor global benchmarks including ICE Coffee C Futures and translate market moves into actionable pricing

• Identify arbitrage opportunities across grades, origins, and markets

• Coordinate closely with logistics and operations to ensure efficient execution

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in physical coffee trading or sales trading

• Proven experience within the low-grade Arabica and Robusta coffee segment

• Strong network across buyers and/or origin suppliers

• Deep understanding of coffee pricing structures and market dynamics

• Strong English language skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with low grade Arabicas / Robustas

• Understanding of blending economics and industrial coffee usage

• Familiarity with logistics, shipping, and contract execution

• Spanish and/or German language skills are a plus
